Come and join us this Sunday for a great Capoeira class and a Roda at the end at DanceBase. We start at 12noon until 1:30pm, book your space here.
But what is the Roda?
It’s a circle of people who stand and watch a game of Capoeira being played inside the circle. Today, we’d like to share with you the anatomy of Roda.

On one side of the circle, we have the Bateria, orchestra of instruments that play music for us and lead the Roda. Capoeiristas, so Capoeira players (blue dots on the above picture) are standing in a circle watching the game.
Where to enter?
Capeoiristas can enter the Roda on both sides of the instruments (yellow dots on the picture) and start their game at the foot of Berimbau, Pé do Berimbau.
The yellow dots are usually the next in line to play but the Roda is always changing. Sometimes person who’s leading the Roda may invite somebody else to play, so be aware of what’s going on in the Roda all the time!
What happen when your game finish?
When your game is finished join the rest of Capoeiristas in the circle. The best is to go to the space opposite the instruments (green dots on the picture) so people can gradually move through the circle and get closer to the entrance to the Roda.

The most important safety tip
Please do not walk through the circle as the game of Capoeira is happening so you don’t want to get kick while you’re walking through. Just remember to walk on the outside of the circle and never through the middle.
Lastly
The Roda is where Capoeira really happen so we hope you join us on Sunday as we love to see you play and enjoy our community gather!
Keep training!
